How listings, verification, reviews and billing work — written for students booking a first class and for the providers teaching them.

For students

Start from the state page for where you live, then narrow by training level — First-Time Permit if this is your first class, Refresher if you already hold a permit. Each listing shows the categories the provider teaches and how recently we confirmed their details. Call before you drive: small operations often run classes on a two-week cycle that fills quickly.

No. A course certificate is one part of an application, and the issuing agency in your state decides everything else — background check, fingerprints, residency, fees and disqualifying history. We list training providers, not permits, and we cannot influence any agency decision.

Expect safe handling and storage, the mechanics of your firearm, marksmanship fundamentals, and the legal framework for carry and use of force in your state. Live fire on a range is normal for permit courses in most states. If a provider will not tell you the round count or the classroom-to-range split, ask again before booking.

It varies. Many indoor ranges include a rental and range fee in the course price; outdoor programs often ask you to bring your own gun and a set round count. The listing description usually says, and the provider will confirm on the phone. Never buy ammunition for a class before checking which calibers the range allows.

We re-check listings on a rolling schedule and stamp each page with a verification date, but schedules move faster than any directory. Treat the class information as a strong starting point and confirm the date and seat availability directly with the provider.

Look at three things side by side: the credentials we confirmed, the pattern in the reviews rather than the single best or worst one, and whether the provider teaches the level you need. An excellent law enforcement instructor is not automatically the right fit for a first-time student.

For training providers

Use the claim link on your listing and submit the request from the business email shown on the page. Once we confirm you are the owner, you get edit access to hours, class formats, description, photos and contact details, plus the ability to respond publicly to reviews.

A legal business name, a physical or service-area address, a working phone number, a website if you have one, the categories and training levels you teach, and the certification numbers for any credential you want displayed. Missing credential numbers are the single most common reason a submission stalls.

Yes, one listing per physical location. Separate listings let students find the right range in search and keep reviews attached to the site they actually attended. Mobile instructors who travel get one listing with an areas-served list instead.

Edit it whenever something changes, and expect a reminder from us on a rolling cycle. Listings that go stale lose their verified badge until the details are confirmed again, so a two-minute update protects your placement in search results.

No. Certification names and seals belong to the organizations that issue them, and we do not permit their logos on listings. You can display the credential as text — we show it with a verification date once we have confirmed it with the issuer.

Verification

It means that on the date shown, we contacted the organization named in a credential claim and they confirmed the credential was active for that person or business. It is a factual check with a timestamp — nothing more. We are not a licensing authority and we do not endorse anyone.

Credentials are re-checked on a rolling annual cycle, and sooner if a student reports a problem or the provider changes what they claim. If a credential lapses and is not renewed, the badge comes off the listing.

We remove the claim immediately and contact the provider for an explanation. A documentation mix-up gets corrected. A deliberate misrepresentation gets the listing suspended, and repeat cases are removed from the directory permanently.

Yes. Our check reflects a point in time, and a credential can lapse the week after we confirm it. Before you enroll or pay, ask the provider for their current credential status and read the requirements your own state publishes for the permit you want.

Reviews

Anyone who attended a class, rented a lane or bought a service from the provider. We ask for the month you attended and the type of training, which gives us something to check against when a review is disputed.

A person reads every review before it appears. We remove posts that name individual students, make legal accusations we cannot substantiate, contain slurs, or read as a competitor or a paid post. We do not remove a review just because it is negative.

Yes, one public response per review, shown directly beneath it. It is the most effective tool a provider has — a calm, specific reply to a bad experience is read by every future student who lands on that page.

No. Advertising and placement are sold separately from moderation, and no amount of spend changes what a review says. If you believe a review is fabricated, report it with details and we will investigate it like any other flag.

Billing and advertising

Yes. A standard listing and the credential check behind it cost nothing. We charge for optional placement: featured position on state and category pages, the class calendar module, and category sponsorship.

Annually, in advance, per location. The price is shown before you confirm, and featured slots in a given state are capped so the placement keeps its value. Cards are charged on the anniversary date unless you cancel first.

Cancel within fourteen days of a new paid placement and we refund it in full. After that we prorate to the end of the current month. If we take a listing down for a policy violation, the remaining balance is not refunded.

No. Messages a student sends through a listing go to that provider only. We do not sell or share student contact details with other providers, marketing firms or data brokers.

Yes, for firearm training and safety related businesses. We do not run advertising for firearm or ammunition sales, political campaigns or unrelated retail. Write to us with what you have in mind and we will tell you honestly whether it fits.

Account and privacy

No. Messages sent through a listing are relayed by us, so the provider replies through the same thread and neither side sees the other’s address unless you choose to share it in the message body.

For students: the messages and reviews you submit, plus standard analytics about how the site is used. For owners: the business details you provide and the credential records we collect during verification. The Privacy Policy sets out retention periods in full.

Yes. Ask us to close your account and we will remove your profile and detach your name from any review you have left. We keep an anonymized copy of review text where it is needed to defend a moderation decision.

We use a small set of cookies for session handling and aggregate analytics. We do not run cross-site advertising pixels, and we do not build advertising profiles from what you search for on this site.
